Five-Year Anniversary

It's hard to believe that it has already been FIVE YEARS since the launch of the Magic, Swords, and Suns official website and shop! The time has truly flown by!

First off, I just want to thank everyone who has supported the game over these last five years as well as all the friends and family who supported this project long before it was even close to being complete. Your support means the world to me and encourages me to keep pushing forward.

Now, time for some updates... Last year, I mentioned that I was exploring changing the packaging for the booster packs (specifically from traditional foil packaging to reusable hook box packaging). Well, I did decide to move forward with that switch and I couldn't be happier with the result! The new packages are easier to open and feature full-color designs both inside and out that really make each booster pack shine. I was initially on the fence about making this change since I have always loved the look of foil boosters in other trading card games, but I think this was the right move in terms of showcasing the artwork and just providing an all around better product.

Another massive piece of news that I'm excited to share is that Magic, Swords, and Suns was sold in person at this year's vendor marketplace at Connecticon. In addition to selling booster packs in person at the marketplace and chatting with curious people who were interested in learning more about the game, I also held my first public demos and matches at the convention. The event went incredibly well! Seeing total strangers picking up on the rules, coming up with their own unique strategies, and talking about the kind of decks they would like to build was so cool! None of this would have been possible without the help of one of my closest friends and my partner. (Thank you both so much!)

So, moving on to my plans for the coming year. I still haven't gotten around to filming the starter deck match ups...again. Definitely hoping to get at least a few of those up on the YouTube channel before next August, as well as a few short videos showcasing some cool card combinations and deep dives into the effects of certain cards. In addition, I would love to host more demo events at either conventions or local game shops to continue spreading the word about the game. As you can tell, these are some bold goals, so we'll see what I've accomplished by this time next year.
